Do you remember the resolution that you made last year?
Did you keep to that resolution?
This might be an unpopular opinion, I don’t think that resolutions are a real means of change.
We are motivated to make resolutions after indulging during the holidays and hope for change in the new year. The mindset of ‘new year, new me’, fades pretty quickly once the dark and dreary days of February roll in.
Nutrition is an industry that typically sees a seasonal dip in December. Who wants to speak to their nutritionist when there are holiday parties to attend?
Why is that so? Is it our ‘all or nothing’ mindset to health: “well, I ate the cookies, the rest of my week is a right off”
Or the roller coaster of on again-off again diet culture?
I suppose we participate in these annual habit change traditions because it is what we have always done come January 1st.
If you have ever made a resolution or signed up for a 21 day challenge, might I suggest a better way?
This year, Make Shifts Happen is hoping to shake up the New Year’s Resolution tradition with a five day deep dive to understand why we have certain behaviours and create the systems needed to Make Shifts Happen (pun intended).
The Kickstart Program is live and starting now will give you create a 2025 transformation before your holiday parties begin. You will:
